What are you grateful for?
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever (Psalm 118:29).
Celebrating Thanksgiving later this month is a good reminder to count our blessings and to give thanks for the good things in our lives. The Bible invites us: rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances (I Thessalonians 5:16-18).
But how about being “grateful” as a way of life? Choosing to believe that God’s blessings and grace are greater than the challenges and messiness of our lives and world?
When we are grateful like that, we start recognizing the Lord’s goodness all around us – in other people, in our world, even in our most difficult struggles. That kind of gratefulness leads to peace and thankfulness in our own hearts, which then spills over onto those around us. We desire to love and bless others because we realize we are so very blessed ourselves.
Thank you Lord for all of your goodness in our lives. Truly we have so much to be grateful for. As we count our blessings, we pray we could love others the way you love us. Bless us as we do your will, in Jesus’ name, amen.
