Reflections: He Is Our Rock

Resident Life
August 11, 2022

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

In these days of uncertainty in our political climate, financial forecasts, and rapidly changing values, it is reassuring to look to Jesus who is unchanging and eternal. Scripture describes Him as our Rock, the Alpha and Omega, the Great I Am, and the King of Kings. As Hebrews reminds us, our hope in Christ is the anchor for our souls in this world of tossing waves and shifting sand.

I am grateful that Christ is central to all we do at Pine Haven. Without Him, our work is simply a human endeavor. But with Him, our care is infused with the love, grace, and compassion of Jesus. He makes all the difference.

Recently, I spoke to a resident who had suffered a great deal of loss and hardship in the past year. Her face was serene and peaceful. “Do you see that picture of Jesus on my wall?” she asked me. “I speak with him all the time. I know He is with me and there is nothing to fear.”

What a wonderful reminder! Jesus doesn’t always keep us from experiencing hardship and pain, but He is most certainly with us in the midst of the storm.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers, support, and heart for Pine Haven. God began something very special over 70 years ago and He is continuing to touch lives, hearts, and our community through the caring ministry of Pine Haven.

A promise from the Word: “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). Amen.
