Pine Haven Christian Communities Is Expanding Its Assisted Living Capabilities
The nursing home will transition into a Community-Based Residential Facility
Pine Haven Christian Communities (Pine Haven) is expanding its assisted living capabilities. The organization will transition its nursing home to a Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF).
This CBRF model will allow Pine Haven to meet the consumer preference to age in place by staying in an assisted living setting. Staff will continue to be trained to care for residents with complicated diagnoses, required medical management and other individual needs.
“Providing Christ-centered, high-quality care that is responsive to the resident’s changing needs is the organization’s focus,” said Ron Walvoort, Pine Haven CEO. “Although changes will be made, the organization's Christian values will remain the same.”
Pine Haven leadership took a thoughtful and methodical approach to this decision during the organization’s strategic planning process. Market forces led the Board and leadership to examine organizational changes that would allow Pine Haven to continue to do business well into the future, while responding to current challenges in the industry. Challenges such as labor shortages, a decline in demand for services and people staying in their homes longer called for changes to the services Pine Haven provides. As a result, the organization will transition its nursing home to a CBRF by spring of 2023.
Residents in the nursing home will have the opportunity to stay at Pine Haven, and staff will ensure the quality of care is as consistent as before the transition. Christ-centered activities and quality of life, including housekeeping, food service, life enrichment, activities and more will remain the same.
“This new model will allow Pine Haven to provide personalized, high-quality care for residents in a less restrictive environment,” said Brenda Lammers, Pine Haven Board Member. “Pine Haven is a senior living organization where elders aspire to live and employees aspire to work, and we intend to carry this vision through the next phase of assisted living care.”
Pine Haven is committed to open communication during this process to ensure all staff, residents, families and community partners remain well-informed during the transition.
