Prairie Crossing Holds Open House
On Saturday, June 22 over 500 guests had the first look at the Prairie
Crossing apartment complex in Sheboygan Falls during the open house. Invited
guests began arriving at 12:30 and were on hand for the dedication ceremony
at 1:30 p.m. Addressing the group during the dedication were Jeff Jenkins,
Administrator of Pine Haven Christian Home; Jan Scholke, Director of Prairie
Crossing; Reverend Stan Seagren of Hope Reformed Church; Jim Waech, current
Chairman of the Pine Haven Board of Directors; and Nancy Verstrate,
Executive Director of Sheboygan Falls Chamber Main Street.

Lynn Muth-Berg Joins Pine Haven Christian
Home As Director of Human Resources
Lynn Muth-Berg was recently hired as the Director of Human Resources at
Pine Haven Christian Home. She will oversee all employment issues for the
Residential Center, Nursing Home, and for the new Prairie Crossing assisted
living apartment complex.

Crossing Residential Center Apartment Complex
Jan Scholke has joined Prairie Crossing as the director. Bringing an
extensive nursing background to her new role, Scholke will oversee the
operations of this new Pine Haven development.

Chosen for New Pine Haven Residential Center Apartment Complex
Prairie Crossing, a Pine Haven
Community, is the new name selected for the assisted living apartment
complex currently under construction by Pine Haven. The name was submitted
by former board member, Marilyn Buteyn, along with over 100 suggestions from
residents, employees, and members of the eighteen churches sponsoring Pine

John Haack Joins Pine
Haven Christian Home As Director of the Foundation
John Haack has joined Pine Haven
Christian Home as Director of the Pine Haven Foundation. The foundation was
established in 1998 to receive and recognize financial gifts to the
organization. Haack is responsible for communicating the mission and vision
of Pine Haven and enhancing the donor base.

Groundbreaking Ceremony
for Pine Haven Residential Center Apartment Complex
Pine Haven Christian Home broke
ground for a new assisted living facility on Wednesday, July 19. This
40-apartment facility will provide supportive, personal, and nursing
services. Completion is expected to be spring/summer of 2007.

Participating in National Quality Initiative
Pine Haven has a reputation
of providing compassionate, high quality care. To assure this tradition
continues and to communicate the overall commitment to quality, Pine Haven
is participating in the “Quality First” initiative sponsored by the American
Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). AAHSA is the
national senior housing organization that represents not-for-profit nursing

Pine Haven Announces
Plans to Build RCAC
The board of directors of
Pine Haven approved construction of a 40 unit residential care apartment
complex (RCAC) on the north side of Sheboygan Falls on 56 acres purchased by
the organization a year ago. The RCAC will provide individual apartments
backed by supportive, personal and nursing services to residents offering a
level of service that is a step above independent living but not as
comprehensive as Pine Haven’s current assisted living facility.

Adds Registered Nurse Case Manager to Staff
Linda Voight, RN, has joined
the staff of Pine Haven in the position of RN Case Manager. In this newly
created position, Voight will review care plans for each resident as well as
assist potential new residents and their families through the admission
process. Twice annually she will conduct an in-depth review of each

Earns Highest Rating In Quality Assurance Surveys
Pine Haven earned
deficiency-free reviews in two separate surveys recently completed by the
State of Wisconsin Bureau of Quality Assurance (BQA), as part of the
Department of Health and Human Services. There are more than 1,500
regulations and standards that senior care facilities must meet for the

Tradition With Giving Tree
Pine Haven Christian Home is
starting a new holiday tradition to bring special joy to their residents and
involve the public in seasonal celebrations with the residents. The Giving
Tree, located in the front lobby, will feature ornaments that include a
number and gift ideas that match with an individual Pine Haven resident. The
theme for this year’s Giving Tree is “Light Up the Life of a Pine Haven

Pine Haven Earns Medicare
Certification to Accept New Residents After a Hospital Stay
Pine Haven has been Medicare
certified effective October 1, 2004. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid
Services (CMS), as part of the federal government’s Department of Health and
Human Services, oversees the Medicare program and grants certification after
an extensive application and detailed approval process.

Specialized Wound Care
Barb TeStroete, RN, has been
certified by the National Alliance of Wound Care to offer specialized wound
care for the residents of Pine Haven Christian Home. TeStroetewas certified
through an intense training course sponsored by the Wound Care Education
Institute that covered all aspects of wound care including diagnosis,
assessment, nutrition, mobility, and treatment.
