Pine Haven Earns Medicare
Certification
to Accept New Residents After
a Hospital Stay
Sheboygan Falls, WI -- Pine
Haven Christian Home has been Medicare certified effective October 1, 2004.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), as part of the federal
government’s Department of Health and Human Services, oversees the Medicare
program and grants certification after an extensive application and detailed
approval process. To become Medicare certified, Pine Haven had to assure CMS
that its policies and procedures met federal standards. The nursing staff
was trained to conduct nursing assessments as required by Medicare
regulations.
“Pine Haven has been
Medicaid certified for many years. The requirements for Medicare and
Medicaid certification are very similar, so becoming Medicare certified
required minimal adjustments,” said Jeff Jenkins, Administrator of Pine
Haven. “We are constantly searching for ways to exceed the expectations of
our current and potential residents. Our Medicare certification will allow
people to stay at Pine Haven after a hospitalization. They previously would
have had to go to another facility that was Medicare certified.”
Pine Haven Christian Home
was opened in 1950 and expanded in 1992 to the
current size of 71 residents
in the nursing home wing and 136 rooms in the residential
center wing. While supported
by eighteen local churches, residents of all faiths and backgrounds are
welcome. Pine Haven’s mission is to provide quality, compassionate care in a
Christian environment.
