Groundbreaking Ceremony for Pine Haven
Residential Center Apartment Complex
Sheboygan Falls, WI -- Pine
Haven Christian Home broke ground for a new assisted living facility on
Wednesday, July 19. This 40-apartment facility will provide supportive,
personal, and nursing services. Completion is expected to be spring/summer
of 2007.
Addressing the group was Jeff
Jenkins, Administrator of Pine Haven; Reverend Stan Seagren of Hope Reformed
Church in Sheboygan and Pine Haven Foundation Board Member; Rick Van Seters,
Pine Haven Board President; Sheboygan Falls Mayor Randy Meyer; and Charlie
Frederickson of Hoffmann LLC. All of the speakers reinforced the Pine Haven
emphasis on Christ-centered care and a 56-year tradition of quality,
compassion, and care.
This new apartment facility will add
a level of service to Pine Haven’s current offerings which include an
assisted living center and a nursing home. The new facility has not yet
been named. Some of the features the new apartments will offer are nurse
supervision, medication administration, assistance with personal care, and
meal service. There will be a choice of four sizes of apartment units
ranging from 542 to 960 square feet. A centralized area will include an
atrium, dining room, and multipurpose room. The exterior will feature a
walking trail around the landscaped grounds and pond. The project is being
financed by a tax exempt bond issue.
The apartments will be built with a
commitment to being environmentally friendly including a geothermal pump
system to the onsite pond to provide heat in the winter and cooling in the
summer. This will keep costs down and mean reduced reliance on traditional
fuels.
One of the groundbreaking attendees
was the previous owner of the land, Elizabeth Mohnsam, and three generations
of her family. The event was particularly commemorative for Mohnsam who was
also celebrating her birthday.
Pine Haven Christian Home was opened
in 1950 and expanded in 1992 to the
current size of 71 residents in the skilled nursing
home wing and 140 licensed rooms in the residential center wing. While
supported by eighteen local churches, residents of all faiths and
backgrounds are welcome. Pine Haven’s mission is to provide quality,
compassionate care in a Christian environment. For more information about
Pine Haven visit www.pinehaven.org or call 467-2401.
