Pine Haven Offers Specialized
Wound Care
Sheboygan
Falls, WI -- Barb TeStroete, RN, has been certified by the National
Alliance of Wound Care to offer specialized wound care for the residents of
Pine Haven Christian Home. TeStroete attended an intense training course
sponsored by the Wound Care Education Institute. The course covered all
aspects of wound care including diagnosis, assessment, nutrition, mobility,
and treatment.
This certification of
TeStroete is another example of the commitment Pine Haven has to continue to
offer high quality care. As the Assistant Director of Nursing at Pine Haven,
TeStroete’s primary focus is to educate the staff on awareness of the needs
of the residents concerning skin care. By paying close attention to
resident’s skin care, the Pine Haven staff can help avoid the health
problems associated with skin deterioration. If a resident does develop a
wound, TeStroete is now expertly trained and available to provide care in a
timely and coordinated manner.
“Like all our staff, Barb
has a unique concern for our residents,” said Jeff Jenkins, Administrator at
Pine Haven. “She worked hard to gain the certification for the benefit of
our residents. She will be available daily as the need arises to address the
important issues of wound care.”
Pine Haven was opened in
1950 and expanded in 1992 to the current size of 71 residents in the nursing
home wing and 140 residents in the residential center wing. Although they
are supported by eighteen local churches, all residents are welcome. Pine
Haven focuses on providing high quality care in a Christian environment.
