Pine Haven Christian Home
Marks 55 Years of Serving
Sheboygan County
Sheboygan Falls, WI -- This
year Pine Haven Christian Home commemorates 55 years of providing quality,
Christian care for seniors in Sheboygan County. A series of events marking
important dates in Pine Haven’s history are planned for throughout the
year.
Pine Haven was founded in
response to a growing need for senior care after World War II. When the 13
representatives from area churches signed the articles of incorporation for
“Christian Home Inc.” on March 10, 1950, Pine Haven became the first,
church-related benevolent institution in Sheboygan County.
To commemorate that date,
Pine Haven will host two events; a fellowship meal for present and past
supporters on March 10 and a brat fry for the public on March 11.
The Pine Haven Family
Celebration on Thursday, March 10 will include current and past board
members, volunteers, and staff members who have worked together to build
Pine Haven into a quality senior care facility that today serves 210
residents. The current board of directors and Pine Haven management team
will prepare and serve a potluck supper. A brief program celebrating the
past and a look toward the future will follow.
On Friday, March 11, the
public is invited to a brat fry from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the front
yard of Pine Haven at 531 Giddings Avenue in Sheboygan Falls. Brats and
burgers, chips and soda will be for sale. The proceeds will go to the Back
The Bus campaign, which was recently launched by Pine Haven to raise funds
to purchase a mini-bus to transport residents to medical appointments and
community activities.
“When Jacob Clicquennoi
contributed the original $50,000 seed money to begin Pine Haven, he probably
didn’t know how many lives would be touched,” said Vicky Hildebrandt,
Director of Resource Development. “Our fundraising campaign to set up a bus
transport service will provide greater freedom and flexibility for current
and future residents and continues the tradition of support for seniors.”
“We want to involve the
community as a whole and everyone who has been associated with Pine Haven in
celebrating our successful past and exciting future,” explains Linda Fickett,
Director of Housing Services. For more information about the upcoming March
events call Linda Fickett at 467-2401, ext. 106.
Pine Haven Christian Home
was opened in 1950 and expanded in 1992 to the
current size of 71 residents
in the nursing home wing and 136 rooms in the residential
center wing. While supported
by eighteen local churches, residents of all faiths and backgrounds are
welcome. Pine Haven’s mission is to provide quality, compassionate care in a
Christian environment.
