Pine Haven Christian Communities’ director of human resources, Lori Albsmeier, has officially graduated from the nationally recognized LeadingAge Leadership Academy.
LeadingAge is a national organization focused on education, advocacy, and applied research for senior care. The Leadership Academy is a year-long program with participants from around the nation. Each participant is selected from a large group of hopeful applicants. Lori is only the fourth to have been selected from the state of Wisconsin.
The program included monthly conference calls and five trips with other members of the program from around the country. Participants were required to read five books on leadership during the course of the year. At meetings, participants would discuss and participate in exercises to build leadership skills and collaborate on solutions that advance person-centered programming in aging services. Travel included site visits to other LeadingAge member organizations around the country and a visit to the capitol to meet with legislators on healthcare legislation.
Lori joined the Leadership Academy in order to improve overall leadership at Pine Haven, to foster growth within the staff, and help develop career paths within Pine Haven. This commitment to supporting staff strengthens our community and the local economy. Lori’s graduation project proposal on mission and values based education for staff, which can be viewed here, will be enacted over the next 3-7 years. All 43 graduation project proposals are available to view on their 2015 SPARK page.
