Pine Haven Begins New Tradition With Giving Tree

Sheboygan Falls, WI --  Pine Haven Christian Home is starting a new holiday tradition to bring special joy to their residents and involve the public in seasonal celebrations with the residents. The Giving Tree, located in the front lobby, will feature ornaments that include a number and gift ideas that match with an individual Pine Haven resident. Anyone is invited to take an ornament, purchase the identified gift(s) not exceeding $15, wrap them, and write the ornament number in the TO area of the gift tag. The gifts should be returned to Ann Davies, Residential Activities Director, or to the Pine Haven business office by Wednesday, December 15. The theme for this year’s Giving Tree is “Light Up the Life of a Pine Haven Resident.”

A lighting and dedication ceremony on Monday, November 29 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Haven Residential Center Activity Room will serve as the kick off for the Giving Tree event. Pastor Bob Abel of Bethany Reformed Church will offer a prayer and the dedication. The Pine Haven Chordettes, led by Donna Caljouw, will provide musical entertainment. Light refreshments will be served.

The gifts will be given to the Pine Haven residents at the annual Christmas parties. The Residential Assisted Living Center will have their party on Thursday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. The Nursing Home will hold their holiday party on Monday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m. The public is invited to both events where refreshments, holiday music and the gift unwrapping will take place.

“We continue to look for opportunities to involve the public in the lives of our residents,” says Linda Fickett, Director of Housing Services at Pine Haven. “The holidays are a challenging time for skilled care facility residents and this will let them know others are thinking about them.”

For more information about the Giving Tree contact Linda Fickett at Pine Haven Christian Home at 467-2401, ext. 106.

Pine Haven Christian Home was opened in 1950 and expanded in 1992 to the

current size of 71 residents in the nursing home wing and 136 rooms in the residential

center wing. While supported by eighteen local churches, residents of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome. Pine Haven’s mission is to provide quality, compassionate care in a Christian environment.
